Folders that are functionally fixed blades.

The other thread on this was stifled by a semantics debate. I have an interest in this so I'm starting a new thread.

Do any of you guys have folders that can be converted into a fixed blade functionally? I'm not talking about super duper locks. I'm talking more along the lines of a friction folder with a screw through the tang or the old barrel knives. Other types I'm not aware of? Let's see them. What do you like and dislike. What are the weaknesses that you found?

But seriously I would like to see some of these knives designed to fold open and then *fixed* in the open position.

I think the concept is hard to understand because the completed knife would be a creative but impractical compromise. The sum of the effort would be a fixed blade with a disproportionally small tang for the size of the blade or a merely disabled folding blade. It can be artfully done but not practically justified. Either way, I think those that just can't get their head wrapped around what is being sought (like me) might be enlightened by seeing this.
