Folders that Lock Closed?

I just bought a Lone Wolf folder (the Doug Ritter Gentlemen's knife) and i love the idea that the blade locks when it is closed.
I like carrying a knife in my back pocket, but I've been a bit fearful about it ever since a folder opened in my pocket and slashed a hole in my pants and car seat.
Does anybody else make a folder that locks closed?
I'm thinking of getting a Paul Prankster, but I would like to know if there are others that I should consider.

i believe CRKT have a model with that feature.

I might me wrong.

But quality folders shouldnt open in your pocket.

The lock on the Benchmade 310 Benchmite locks the blade closed, though they're rather hard to find. The newer, cheaper Benchmite II version they did has the same mechanics.

Kershaw's Leek, Scallion, and Speed/Spec Bump all lock closed, and are excellent knives to boot.

Benchmade's Levitator lock locks closed. You have to depress a button (a cutout in the scale) to open or close the knife.

I would also consider looking into lockback (Spyderco, for instance) knives which offer the strongest resistance to being opened accidentally of all common lock mechanisms, especially on knives with lighter blades. The backspring on most well-designed lockbacks will actually pull the blade closed if it is open only a few degrees.

The SOG Trident series has manual locks. I have a satin finish plain edge tanto. Pretty decent knives, AUS 8 steel if I recall, the "SOG Assisted Technology" assisted opening method is pretty snappy and had little play when open. Handles on them are on the bigger side, though my girlfriend says it's fine and she has tiny hands. The "groove" for cutting wire was nice, though didn't work well for anything more than thin and soft cord.

The assisted opening Buck Rush knives lock closed.

The Kershaw Mini Mojo/Mojito locks closed. It's a speed safe knife and it has an integrated safety in the flipper.

You might want to do some searching, will have to be manual though, on the Lone Wolf Poehlmann knives as I've read some posts about the blade developing bladeplay after only a few weeks of use, and there is no way for the end user to tighten the pivot. In fact I don't think the pivot can be tightened due to the design. Just a heads up so you don't get dissapointed.

The BM Benchmite and Buck Rush are two that I have and have been mentioned already.

The SOG Twitch II also has a sliding lock to keep the blade closed. Its also an assisted opener.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but Boker Top Locks and Speed Locks lock closed, as they're autos that were converted to manuals for US sales.

An older design that can still be found, and is rather unique is the CAS Iberia Paul Chen Citizen knife. It had a tiny blade, but it locked closed, and in the push-dagger position, as well as open. A fun gent's knife for special occasions. Though not very big, it can do quite a bit. Pic curtesy of Josh @ PVK.com
