Finally able to get a picture of what I have collected so far (minus the new Spyderco Para D2). Figured also give others a comparison of models.

i love each and every one of those knives :) amazing collection and beautiful knives you have there... just about all of those are the knives i plan to get in the future... so if you plan on parting with one let me know :)

Yeah.. only one Emerson at this time. I want a CQC-11 next of the Emersons. I wanted to make sure I got several from each of the major makers to validate quality and craftmanship as well as finding out if you really get what you pay for (is a $150 knife worth $150 and is a $30 knife worth more than $30). So far to answer that question... I have a really hard time paying more than $120 for a knife. Several of mine are used but not abused. I think most of my higher end kives deliver in materials and workmanship for the price paid. But have also found some really good values too boot in lower priced knives. This is not a knock but I just don't see how a $400 knife is better than a quality $120 knife as far as usability. From a collectors perspective maybe for custom knives. But for production knives.. get out of here. BTW.. I collect knives, but don't consider myself a "collector". If I have them, I'm going to use them. I would love to have a Strider or CRK but no way am I going to drop $400 on a single pocket knife. I can get a new gun for that price. :-)

My 4 favorites are the Skirmish, Para (not shown), SERE and the CQC8. It would be hard to pick just one. But those will be my last 4 if I had to liquidate.

The SERE is fantastic. It's big but not too big. I don't mind a bigger knife as I'm a bigger guy. Deploys very fast and locks up tight with a nice thick liner lock (probably the thickest liner lock I've seen other than a frame lock). I recommend picking one up if you have the means.

The Blackhawk is a big knife.. It's the E series not the original. It's nice for it's price point but there are a few things that bother me. It does not open fast without a decent about of wrist action. I'm also not a big fan of the cutter on the back or the glass breaker. I'm thinking of getting out the dremel and removing it. The blade is big, thick and sharp though. I would not say it is on par with the SERE but the price difference is wide as well. Sometimes less is more and that is what gives the SERE my thumbs up.

Thats a quality collection. I hope i can equal that some day...

Thanks for the details on the Blackhawk.

I agree with you about $400 folders. They aren’t that much better than $200 ones.

Most of them are way overrated.

If one can easily afford the $400 knife, go for it. You won’t be sorry.
But if you think a decent $200 knife won’t measure up, think again.

There are some kick-@%$*! folders out there for a couple hundred bucks.

My $400 folders see the same amount of pocket time as my $125-200 ones.

Yes, very nice, indeed!

I just have one question... how were you able to stop with one Buck 110? You can get one with an S30V or CPM154 blade from Cabelas or Bass Pro - for <$75. You can get some neat ones to your design/materials selection from ~$80 up made for you from Buck's Custom Shop. Hmmm, never mind... that's another crazy addiction!

Like I said, nice collection - congratulations!

Very nice collection! I think you need more Kershaws though :D

Very nice collection.

Am I the only one who thinks the Blackhawk is hideous?

You are not alone. Everytime I look at that knife I hear "WTF" in my head.
