Folders with bowie blades

Hi guys,

Been thinking about getting a folder that has a nicely proportioned bowie blade, as I seem to have a lot of drop-point or utility blades on my current collection of knives, but no bowie. This is kinda odd, as my very first fixed blade was a cheap bowie when I was a kid. I probably bought it after seeing "The Alamo" on TV! :)

My general EDC folder is around the 4"-5" closed size. I generally prefer this size of knife as oppossed to the Crocodile Dundee "Now this ... this is a knife!" scenario.

Have had a look at the BM720, but am looking for other suggestions ...

Thanks,

Joe.

Spyderco Chinook perhaps ? The blade style really appeals to my taste.

Hey,

Re: Chinook:

I heard that there is gonna be a chinook II ... any ideas as to when and how it compares to the current version? .. style-wise

Knifeforums the Magazine, October issue, has an article on the Chinook from its early days through the Spyderco version and including the Spyderco Chinook II, all by James A. Keating, who invented it. The Chinook II is similar in handle, with a sleeker blade, a couple of ounces less.

The Darrel Ralph Madd Maxx is a very nice knife. I have a 5.5" D2 dagger. But Camillus makes the CUDA Maxx the same size, same steel, very fine production values, for a LOT less money. You can get the dagger or the bowie. The blade length may seem a bit much, but this has got to be one of the all-time easiest-carrying big knives. And we're talking about titanium handle with an integral lock. The handle is quite broad but very slim front-to-back.

I really like the Chinook myself, but not enough to buy a knife that's going to weigh down my pocket like that! (I have enough oversize folders already  )

if ya want a big bowie, the maxx is hard to beat, the cammilus or ralph version are both great!!

Edited because link didn't seem to work:

Check out the AG Russell Featherlite One Hand Knife in the Clip Point Style. Very nice. agrussell.com.

I think for a more manageable size you might want to check out the DDR designed Camillus Domonator; ROBO assist opening, titanium handle, frame lock, 3.65" S30V blade, hot chicks dig this knife
