Hi guys,

I want to buy a knife that has a glass breaker due to a family member who personally experienced a situation where they may have needed one if they were in a remote area. And frankly I just like the looks

I have looked into the Plain edge Protech TR4 manual but they are sold out everywhere and things like the Benchmade Triage do not interest me due to my tastes for something more tactical.

Anybody have any suggestions for around 100-150? I might be able to squeeze up to 200 if I really like it.

ThankS

Benchmade Contego or Bedlam (if you can find one). They will probably run $150-$200 though.

Buy the a good folder and a $7 spring loaded center punch, or a Spyderco Assist if you can find a used one.

Surefire crank EW-10, they are discontinued so you can get a pretty good deal on remaining in stock pieces. Surefire will still service and provide parts too. I have one and i love it, super convenient fast assisted open action and good size blade for cutting.

The contego is a great one, and can be had for $140 new from bladehq.
I prefer to carry a strong metal pen that I would use as a glass breaker, as well as a device called resqme on my car key, but for the knife you describe, contego all the way!

The Spyderco Assist has an interesting glass breaker, when you squeez the blade into the handle the tip protrudes, its not always sticking out when you don't need it, very helpful when your emptying your pockets and you toss your knife into your glass top table for example.

Get a ResQMe for your key chain. Don't mess up your knife. The ResQMe has a window breaker and a seat belt cutter, and it detaches from your key chain with a quick pull.

this thread , the bit about the glass breaker , was going thru my head all day , and I ended up making some pics when I got home .. then I saw the price limit :(
what the hell I made the pics so Im gunna post them anyway
this knife impressed me some .. seemed tome to have a bit of first responder to vehicle wrecks built into it

Wow, I really like the look of that SanRenMu T21 ! Does anyone know if it is a clone of some other knife or violates any patent/trademark/copyright laws in the US? If not, that may be the first SanRenMu i get...

My only knife with a glass breaker is the Gerber Propel (image from web):

I removed the torsion-spring to enhance the knife and now use it for all manner of tasks around the homestead, keep it in the glove-box the rest of the time. Here is a chatty comparison to the Benchmade 520 and (briefly) CS Recon 1:

Well thanks for all your suggestions guys, I appreciate it
Some great choices in all posts but I decided to try out the DPX Hest 2.0 cause it has Ti LOL

It is the same knife! Thank you for that. I did a little research on the Benchmade H&K Ghost - it is/was a Big 5 Sporting Goods exclusive, made by SanRenMu in China. I haven't found out who owns the design. It is possible that H&K licensed the design from the same producer as SanRenMu, or that SanRenMu owns it, or that the design has NO license.

To the OP - the DPx Hest 2.0 definitely on the HIGH side of suggested offerings  Anybody care to post pics to complete the thread until the OPs arrives?

I sold mine a while back because the blade was too thick for my tastes. Thick little bulldog of a folder. The glass breaker is removable and it comes with a flat stud to replace it. The notch works well for wave openings and as a bottle opener.
