What folder would you recommend if all you did with it was open & close it a million times? It's nice when there's something to cut, but basically I just like something with smooth opening & closing action. Or should I just get a balisong?

For production folders, I would highly suggest Benchmade's with the AXIS lock system. My 940 has by far the smoothest opening and closing of any knife I have ever owned or played with. You really should really do yourself a favor and try one out.

Knives with the Axis Lock are the smoothest manual opening and closing knives you can get hands down.

The 940 is real smooth. I dont ever think I have opened a rough axis lock. GOOD LUCK! Kevin :thumbup:

Yup, I have a BM 551 mini grip and it IS smooth, very little friction. Quite a nice knife and I would buy one again. But.......
Nothing relaxes me more than exercising my Sebenza. It's just so soft in the hand and that click, oh that click. :)

It seems that you're looking for a folder more for play than work (which is cool with me:). If you're on a budget, I'd recommend a mini grip for the axis and/or a kershaw leek for the assisted opening; both of which I've opened and closed for many hours in front of the tv.

As Tapedeck says, the BMs are smooth as hell but there really is something about the FEEL of the Sebbie. I love opening and closing mine, not sure what it is, it just feels good and yes, that locking CLICK sounds and feels good too.

So, for actual easiness of opening/closing, go get a BM. For something that just feels good, get a Sebbie. Even better, get one of each. :)

Kershaw Groove for sure!

So much fun.

Yep, I'm just in it for how much fun my hand is having (insert joke here). Gotta feel good in the hand & be fun to open & close when I'm surfin'. (already got the EDC good cutting knife figured out - ritter grip)

The Axis and Arc locks tend to be really smooth. The Spyderco Caly 3 is really smooth also, though it's not flickable like the axis and arc locks, so it's different kind of smooth.

Benchmades are Awesome, so are Spydercos. My Brother carries a CRKT - that he Loves too.
Kershaw also makes a great knife - and their support is great from what I hear.

In Short - there are many great knives to choose from :)
A Couple of my favorites are the Titanium Vision by SOG - (think they got permission to use the Axis lock from Benchmade ) - any way it is awesome. none of Sogs folders have ever come close to that level of craftsmanship - that I am aare of any way.

The one that has the most pocket time for me though has to be a Small Sebenza - smooth as butter on the open/close - have edcd the small classic version for a few years now - and no matter what else I get I always seem to go back to it. Ergonomic, Smooth, thin, light, discreet for pocket carry, can take a beating (literally), holds an edge well - have not found anything that can beat it out in view of all those requirements (so far anyway ;) - but I'm always looking..

Good Luck with your decision, and welcome to Blade Forums!!!

+1 another vote for Benchmade Axis locks!

710 and Griptilian; you'll pop em all day! ;) good luck

Interesting pic above there. I have a mini grip, looks much like the grip in the pic and I have an 806 D2. I've often thought that the 806 would be the perfect knife if it had a handle like the grip.

About the only thing I'd change with the BM knives is that flat, sharp edged handle.
