Hello all. First post in this forum. Visited the local brick and morter today and couldn't resist the Folding Alpha Hunter, Rosewood, ATS34. Absolutely love it. Last Buck I purchased was a 110 in '78. Nice to be back.

Question. I ran a search on the Alpha. Around release there seemed to be a number of questions / concerns about the relative thinness of the liner lock, the liner lock positioning 1/2 way or greater on a new knife (mine does), and blade play (mine doesn't). Now that it's been out awhile, and some of you must still be carrying, could I trouble you for an update on how you feel about your Alpha's now. Thanks.

Purchased my Alpha Hunter in September of 2002...I have nothing to complain about!:D

I have, and use regulary, all three folding Alpha's straight blades. They are a permanent part of my EDC rotation and I would trust any of them to do anything I needed done. The weight is a little more than a 110, but to me, that just feels right in the hand. All three blades lock up solid, no play, no wiggle. The two 420HC hold an edge as expected and are easy to touch up (I use a Smith's Precision Kit) and the ATS-34 blade is just as awesome as can be. I don't think I've had to touch it up yet after about 6 months of carry/use. Would I recomend thse knives to anyone - I have and will again.

Now I'd love to see the Alpha line added to the 110 for customization at buck's PCKS. - JOE!!! Are you listening ????

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad to hear the thumbs-up reports because I really like this knife.

If I remember right Gypsy, the folding Alpha is 2 grams less than the 110 :). Doesn't seem like it though.

and we have had no problems with the liners..

Jeff, after reading your post, I held a 110 and my EDC 277 - side-by-side there is hardly a noticable difference :p yet when I carry the Alpha, it seems to remind me its always there. Maybe its just the dynamics of the knife - who knows!!!! Maybe I have carried a 110 for so long it has become so much a part of me that I forget its there until I reach for it. Regardless of the weight variance, the Alpha series are great knives....

Still waiting to see them in PCKS.....

:D :D :D
