I wear contacts but have always wanted to have a back up pair of eyeglasses either in my pocket or pack so I started kicking this idea around last night on how to get some of my old prescription lenses into a pair of those folding reader frames with a case about the size of a zippo lighter.

They are made for skiing above timberline or driving into the sunset. They can be ordered with any color, shade, or prescription. Not as small as reading glasses but quite compact.

I have old pairs going back for eons, and have a pair in each bag. Just a thought going forward, Besides, you may look back and grin some day, remembering what was in, back then...

I carry Slimfold reading glasses. Very high quality, IMO. They come in several styles and lens sizes, with powers ranging from +1 to +3.5, and in .25 increments. I use the most compact model #1. Very light and compact when collapsed and folded into their 4 - 3/4" x 2" x 7/16" aluminum case (the pic of the glasses in case is not the model I use, but still very compact). The cases are available with or without the pocket clip.

I asked the eyeglasses place locally if they can put some prescription lenses into a pair of folding reading glasses. They said no, not unless they had the screws in the corners like regular glasses, but none of the ones at the local store did. I was able to find some on ebay, but I haven't had the money yet to have lenses put in them. Hopefully though, they're fall smaller than a normal set of glasses and would be easy to throw in a pocket or backpack.
