folding bowies

I have an idea that has been buzzing around in my head. I don't have too many customs, but I kinda think that the ones that I DO have are out of the ordinary. Lately, I have become enamored of the idea of folding bowies. This may be either Matt Diskin's or Ed Schempp's fault-- since I have managed to acquire such folders from both. I have decided that I want such folders from a number of unfortunate makers, who I will hassle unmercifully (is that a word?) till they make them for me. I am specifically interested in the individual maker's interpretation of the idea "folding bowie". I am kind of limiting my commisions to those makers that I know and love their work. So far, the makers that I have in mind are Bailey Bradshaw (he actually has such a model) and Jim Rodebaugh.

Anybody have other makers in mind for this sort of thing? This is very lonf-term, as I cannot commission all of these at once. But I need to think of these things well in advance. Any feedback that I can get is well appreciated.

Have a CUDA MAXX Folding Bowie. But no Custom folding Bowies so I won't be much help.

Ron Newton is another that makes a killer folding Bowie.
I have one coming from Matt Diskin in the near future.

Try Bob Wilhelm, an Aussie maker.

Has a folder bowie, I have a custom version, great knife. Have a look at his site.

Well, I am definitely a fan of the folding bowie, as is evidenced by my having several of them, all by Bailey Bradshaw. I love them, Bailey's forged folders are just such incredible things to me. Any time I saw one for sale, I frantically tried to see if I could afford it, many times I couldn't, but I got lucky on a few. :)

I would also consider Don Hanson, he made one recently that I saw pictures of that is really very nice looking, with a killer Hamon to boot, and I know Don's work, so even though I only saw a picture, I know the knife is flawless.

Here is a picture of it, 5" forged W1 blade with Hamon, Walnut handle, heat blued steel bolsters, not my picture. I definitely see one in my future. :)

If you want to see my Bradshaw folding Bowies, go to the link below to my collection. Near the top of the page.

I'd say between Don and Bailey, you could have some great stuff made.

Megalobyte,
I assure you that I have already seen the pics of your Bradshaw folding bowies. You have quite a collection--I don't want to spend too much time looking at them--they make me want to come over and rob your house. :D

Actually, they have been quite helpful, because, as you know, there isn't a large number of Bailey's work out there for sale, so I have been looking over these things to give me an idea of what to order from him. The drawback is the wait, of course, but that's way outweighed by getting EXACTLY what you want, and the fun of talking it through with Bailey as it progresses.

I still don't have the time to post pics, but maybe Bailey took a snapshot of the whittler that he just made for me--if so, he certainly has my blessings to post it. Amazing bark ivory, engraving as only Bailey does it, and CPM 3V blades.

Folding Bowies???
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

:D :D
I only say that because I am the one who intended to lead the charge in this (new? revival?) trend. I've been wanting to focus on folding Bowies for some time, but haven't spent hardly any time in the shop.
