This may seem to be a stupid question to some but I am curious, is the 110 the first folding Buck or the first lock blade folding Buck?

Thanks, RMO

RMO,

The 110 is the first folding Buck and the first lock blade folding Buck. For the purists, there is the 117 knife from the mid-1940s. However, that was a matter of putting Buck blades in non-Buck lifeboat knife handles.

Yes, and if I remember correctly, the 110 was the first knife to successfully use a lock safe enough to use hunting...or something to that regard. I seem to remember that Buck solved the problem and after that everyone else copied his work.

ABOVE: Joe Houser's 117 hand modeled by his lovely wife Maralee.

ABOVE: The founder, Hoyt or his Son Al Buck, would replace your knife's blade or blades with his branded "BUCK" blade or blades at your request. Here is a photo of a double bladed folder with both blades replaced with BUCK blades.

Shame they don't do the re-blades anymore. I'd love a Buck main blade in my Ulster BSA knife. (and a couple others, too)
