Folding Fillet?

Hey everyone,

I have a problem. A friend that I camp and fish with is getting married, he wants to get his best man (another friend of mine) a folding fillet knife.

The problem is that he is young and paying for most of the wedding...so he doesn't have much dough. He is not a knife knut and turned to me. We have looked at the commercially available stuff and it doesn't look good. I am willing to match his contribution but I warned him...the price still might be too high.

He has no idea of knife prices.

He wants 5" balde with a wood handle and stain-less steel. Anybody have an idea? Any new makers willing to take on the job?

Any thought or ideas will be welcomed.

Let's see what pops up. I bet there are a few that might be interested. Good luck!

Have never seen a custom folding fillet knife! What a great idea!

I was surprised by the lack of fillet knives in general at Blade. I kept my eyes open all weekend and never found what I was looking for... Came home to find an Email from Phil Wilson, and I now own a fine 9" fixed blade fillet knife.

I'm looking forward to hearing about folding ones!!

It may bot be a 5" blade and it may not be a custom, but the Spyderco Catcherman is at the right closeout price. Check the Spyderco C17PSK price at www.johnfjensen.com

Thanks for the post JFJ but, so many bells and whistles went off on my highly protected machine, I couldn't get past the first page. Either you have some very, very bad java, or you are trying something you shouldn't be trying.

In either case I cannot recommend your site until it is cleaned up.
