Folding handle?

Still worrying about the design of this meteoric knife, I was wondering on a bit of lateral thinking here - are there any knives around in which the blades are fixed and the handle folds?
I was thinking of maybe a short tang which goes into a solid section of either wood or ivory and then a hinged 'sheath' which folds back and locks into the back section. It would just be techicaly easier for me to manage that messing around with the metal work - considering the whitefinger problem,

A friend of mine once had a knife that the handle kind of rotated around to expose the blade. it was a high quality knife but i don't believe custom. I can't really remember exactly "how" it worked but it was and still is the only knife that worked like that. I wish i had more information for you, and me
