So I have a buddy who really is interested in the "quatermaster" Baracus, folding karambit, is that company proven at all? Does any have the "baracus" and can attest to quality or lack there of. Better yet can someone please recommend a good folding karambit. "In all honesty i think the baracus looks kinda cool but in a ridiculous way.

i have a 5.11 karambit...i think its called the CUB Master 2.0. Its designed by steve tarani, and uses s30v steel....great blade, great proce IMO. I made a custom quick release sheath for it too and it deploys lightning fast....i'll try to post a few pics if you want later...

Quartermaster Knives is basically a re-branded Mantis Knives. Your call on what you think of their products.

I like the Emerson Combat Karambit. Has the best ergonomics of the Karambits that I've handled and the Wave deploys very quickly.

Dont buy a mantis. in the past they have proven themselves to be dishonest from steel material to the "originality" of their designs. A 5.11 or a Fox or an Emerson. HELL EVEN A BOKER WOULD BE BETTEr

Rival1314 some pics would be awesome. Thanks for the recommendations guys. I just showed him the 5.11 and the emerson, and his bloody reply was "but it doesnt look as crazy". It looks like hes set on the quartermaster ill still try to steer him towards a good one...

I 2nd the Master Cub. I wave modded a pair. That was a great carry setup.

been away in the shop for a few days: will post some pics tonight so you can see the mods:-)

I carry an Emerson combat karambit almost every day and I would say it's the best. I also have several 5.11 Tarani CUB folding karambits in the journeyman and master editions and one of the 2.0 I like the 5.11 karambits. I broke down and purchased one ofthe Quartermaster karambits. When comapred side by side to a Mantis karambit there is a big difference in the quality of the two. I don't know all of the hidden secrets of Quartermaster Knives at this time but their karambit really isn't that bad for the price. It's a bit bulky and the largest of all folding karambits that I own. It's also heavier due to the materials used in construction. The lock-up is secure at this point adonly time will tell how much lock bar travel will occur. As for the type of steel used......................it is not marked anywhere on the blade so we are still relying on what Quartermaster is claiming as far as blade steel.

As far as folding Karambits go, I can only speak of the two 5.11 cub models (the 154cm and s30v) both are great karambits. I've only held an emerson, but no extended carry. From what I've seen, unless you want something that looks like a blade used in a Klingon fertility ritual, the 5.11's and the Emerson are your best bets.

I have an Emerson and a Fox, these two have the wave feature and I love them both, I carry the fox more tho because it's thinner than the Emerson, but the Emerson feels better in the hand.

I have the smaller Fox and larger Emerson, both with the wave, I tend to carry the fox one more, probably due to being cheaper, lol but true.

With the wave, they are wicked fast to deploy.

I bent the tip on my fox when trying to get a good deployment with the really weak flipper, just using the flipper the blade only deploys 1/2 way, but wrist action will get it the other way, just don't hit the table in front of you when trying that :( I used a sharpen stone to blend away the small bend, at least I had the knife a whole 15 minutes before I bent the tip..... such a noob.

I will buy another smaller fox and Emerson in the future.
