Hey Guys,

I'll start by saying that I am not sure if this is in the right area, move it if it is.

I am not 18 yet, and I have a growing addiction for all knives. I currently don't have a job, so it has been hard to get knives. I get a new knife about every month for helping around the house. EDC knives have always excited me, but the more I have gotten the more I have wanted to buy. This is an illness. I know that I am not the only one out there with this addiction, haha! I recently just got some money, and I have 4 new knives coming to me now (Mcusta MC-12, Blade Tech Ganyana Lite, Becker BK-10, and a SYKCO 511). I can't seem to get enough knives.

Yeah this is a "Nowhere Thread" but I just thought I would share with you guys my current predicament.

Thanks,

~Ben

I was in the same boat just a year ago (got my first job). Get some income going and then save up for a while to keep up the habit! Welcome to the addiction! You have good taste! You'll fit right in. :D

Thanks man! I'll be getting a job here in a few months, that way I can buy my first Sebenza! :D

Welcome to the club and the addiction.

I have a pretty large collection and always want more to add to it.

Just wait till you get a job and get your first Mid-Tech/Custom lol.

Trust me its a whole different world.

Enjoy the forums and the great people here!

I know how you feel! I'm 18 and have the same problem. That's really impressive that you get a new one every month! My collection is relatively small but I'm having a hard time justifying spending a lot of money on knives. I think I'll have to just give in and start buying more than two or three a year. I really want to have a bigger collection!

During your "knife journey" don't neglect your kitchen knives! A few well thought out purchases will last you a lifetime.

I buy ONE sebenza and my GF says I'm addicted.

I say I haven't even started yet.

At the same time, folders are kind of useless if you have a good one.

Me personally as a chef, collect kitchen knives.

Someday you have to decide if you want to be an accumulator or a collector.
Beeing a user helps.
What are you looking for in knives? Is there a direction you want to go?
There are tons of knives out there, maybe you can focus.
Get as much infomation as possible about design, quality, material,....

Have much fun.

Of course! I don't really cook, but I think I could buy a couple! Then I'll see where that takes me!
Thanks

good advice... get a job and then spend the money on things you'll enjoy. Pay the bills, maybe start some savings, and then buy some knives! :) My only advice beyond this is, if you really want a Sebie, Strider, etc... then go for it. Getting a Benchmade, Spyderco, etc... (which are great)... will not satisfy you if you really want something else.

If you can afford this knife hobby, do it! But! If you can't, be careful. I got myself into $$ hole but got out.
I sold all of my knives except for the few I EDC. I feel a lot better.

Not being 18 yet means that I will only have car insurance to pay! Then I can start saving and buying some toys! :)

Well, as a dad speaking you need to save to get your own place first. Concentrate on getting out on your own first. Plenty of time later for toys. I'm 47 and just started to collect within the last year. You have your whole life in front of you. Focus on the important things first. Saving now at a young age will have huge benefits in the future! More money = more toys!

Good luck with your endeavor.
