I have a budget of $100. This knife will be carried around everywhere because it is my first and only for a while. I will Also use it for camping and it will see heavy use. What are your suggestions? All advice is appreciated.

A little bit more information would be helpful :) What sorts of things do you plan on doing with it on a daily basis? What sort of "heavy use" will it be seeing camping? Do you have any style preferences (eg traditional vs modern etc)? Are you looking for stainless only or would you consider non-stainless?

I will do every day tasks, and for camping, everything and anything that I can use it for. No style preferences really. I would really prefer stainless steel.

Kershaw Blur in ELMAX, Spyderco Manix 2, H&K 14715 or Buck 830 Marksman should all do great for right around that price point.

Benchmade Presidio Ultra 552. Can be purchased for $97.00
- 440C stainless
- Axis Lock
- Good blade shape
- Comfy handle.

I believe you posted previously on a similar subject?

For everyday carry, I just picked up a Benchmade Mini-Barrage and WOOWEE! I'm in love with it.

Alternatively:

- Kershaw Leek
- Kershaw Blur Elmax
- Kershaw Cryo 2
- Kershaw Skyline
- Spyderco Manix 2
- Spyderco Tenacious
- Spyderco Delica
- Spyderco Endura 4
- Benchmade Mini Griptillian
- Benchmade Mini Barrage (little over $100, but worth it)
- Benchmade 530 (light as hell, disappears in your pocket)
- CRKT M16
- Opinel No. 8

These are ones I know enough about that they're reputable and work well, or own myself.

as for the elmax blur and the zt 0566, is the zt worth the extra money?

I think it is, but it really depends on if you don't mind carrying a heavier knife. The 0566 is slim but heavy and just feels more solid than the blur. That said, the blur is a great knife as well, I just prefer the 0566 much more. It's one of my favorite knives of all that I own.

Spyderco Dragonfly G10. Personally, I just don't need a large knife. This little EDC blade can handle 99% of all my urban living utility needs. If I could only keep one, it might be this guy right here.

I agree completely, the DF G10 has become a companion of mine, always have it on me and I have never come across a situation where the DF could not perform well

By the way, "Folding knife" and "Heavy Use" don't really go well together, if you must..get a Zero Tolerance, Emerson, Spyderco and Benchmade has some rugged ones too. The perfect 'team' for me personally is a DF G10 and a Manix 2.
I suggest you buy one folding knife for EDC and one knife, fixed blade preferably for outdoor and "heavy" use, don't try to use one knife for everything

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that advice

Separate the uses. Use something like a Mora for camping and stupidly heavy duty/abuse use and than just a normal knife to EDC. When you start trying to do everything with one tool you end up with something that does a poor job at everything. The stupidly thick blades on the heavy duty knives make them poor cutters and they tend to be overbuilt which makes them thick and cumbersome to carry so people can abuse them. A simple swiss army knife or Opinel will cut significantly better due to blade geometry. Fixed blades also have a sturdier "lock" than a folding knife so mine as well separate these tasks since it sounds like you can easily do so.

Personally I go with a Victorinox Compact to EDC as it will fulfill all your urban needs in one small package, and then pair that up with a Mora or something along those lines for camping. That combo will work out exceptionally well. Don't be fooled by the cheap prices on the Mora, look up reviews on it before you pass judgement on it.

Little trick on the swiss army knives their a double edge sword with how they aren't as wear resistant as our new high end wear resistant steels. They may dull quickly but they can be sharpened up easily and on practically anything. I use some cheap #2 compound from Sears and a few swipes on that brings back the edge for the most part. And I have a pretty simple set up, a piece of paper wrapped around a stone with the compound rubbed on it is my strop. Combine that with the nice thin blade and they are pretty dang good knives for cutting stuff up that we mostly overlook here for some odd reason.

For your camping needs get yourself a Mora to go along with whatever folder you pick. I bought one for 12 bucks. You can't beat it for a camp knife!

Depends on who you are, what you like, and how much money you can really afford to spend. For me, and a whole lot of other people, the answer is a resounding YES! But, not everyone feels that way.
