I have a lot of knives 4" and under, and I'm looking for a bigger folder. Any recommendations under or around the $200 price range? Also, I live in IL, and I could use some advise on where to buy knives here. I only know of two places with decent selections; Gat Guns and Cabelas. Thanks for y'all's help.

I am assuming that you mean over 4" blade. I would go with a cold steel recon xl clip or a discontinued ontaio hossom retubution L.

Its not a high dollar knife, but the Spyderco Resilience is a nice useful blade. You could get 4 of them for $200 :p The blade comes in at 4.25".

KOD, I was considering selling my Retribution One. If you're interested send me an email / PM.

Hogue Knives EX04. A 4" blade of either Modified Drop Point or Modified Wharncliffe. Very comfortable G10 grips in various colors. About $200 delivered.

Spyderco Szabo with 4.60" blade of CPM S30V and great-looking handle of Carbon Fiber / G-10 Laminate. About $160.

Mmm, I like that spyderco. Says $300 on the website, where can I get it for $160?

+1 on the CS Recon 1xl... I have the 3" mini and the regular sized (both clip points) and I love them. They are great general purpose knives that are strong, reliable, and very easy to resharpen. I find myself grabbing one of them over some other very impressive (and expensive) others in my collection all the time. In fact, only my traditionals get more pocket time.

Use your Google-fu. The price they put on their site is the full MSRP. Nobody actually pays that unless they are stupid, ridiculously wealthy, or it is a grail knife
Also try the Spyderco Police

I'm not a big fan of ordering knives online, I like to fondle/molest them before I buy, but I may just have to settle for amazon.

Like NateReed said, the spyderco police. Its $150ish with a 4.35" blade and 9.9" open. Has g10 handles with liners, a lock back and VG10 steel. It's a monster knife.

Plus, if you order offline from the right place you can send it back if you don't like it.

Cold Steel pretty much dominates the high quality XL folder market, but Spyderco has a couple of nice options like the Police and Szabo.

Well I decided to get a fixed blade. Got a benchmade 162. I'll post a pic later.
