Folding knives with unique opening/closing mechanisms.

It could be because its Friday afternoon here, but I ....just...dont....get....it

What do you mean? How the knife works?

I think the "switch" is almost like a ball lock/or Axis lock that when pulled back, frees up the blade to rotate. And when released, locks up the blade in the open and close position.

It is nowhere near a practical or sensical knife design, but it it unique.

And no, I'm not interested in purchasing one. I just like seeing folding knives of all types and some of the creativity that goes with them.

Kershaw/Gavin Grant Hawk (hell a lot of their stuff is just engineering perfection) ET
Mike Irie had this knife where you lift the slab up, rotate the slab around along with the blade (kinda Balisong-ish) and pushed it back down to lock it

Is that your knife GarageBoy? I remember when I was 10 years old and had gone into a local hardware store to look at the knives. Some older gents were out front swapping and talking knives when one pulled the exact knife, Colt logo included, you show. From that day forward, my taste in knives.......and desire, went out the roof! Thanks for posting that one up!

I believe those were made by permission from Barry Wood, he designed that
opening a long time ago, he told me that he came up with that when he cut
himself quite badly with a knife who's lock failed.
Here's a photo of one I owned a while back made by Irie/Wood, Mike Irie is/was
Barry Wood's son-in-law.

Here's one that you have to push the blade button, to open or close. It's a CRKT designed by Michael Walker and it's actually a solid little knife. Not very practical at all because to open it one handed you must make two opposite movements with your thumb. Push the button in then out. You can do it but not smoothly.

Another knife with that kind of lock, Piranha (I don't know the exact name)

sorry for the crappy pic

Yeah, if you want a unique lock the ET (stands for external toggle) in pretty much on its own, an alien if you will (har har har). Be careful with it though. Be sure to watch the training video on youtube or on the DVD they give you beforehand, and even if you do, they are EXTREMELY easy to cut yourself with.

Nope, I wish it was mine.

I have been playing with one of the CRKT Kommer Fulcrum knives and actually like it quite a bit. No it isn't a batoning knife but that isn't what I bought it for. It is a handsome gentleman's knife, doesn't upset people yet is very fast to open once you practice with it. Push the scale forward and the blade pops out to 90 degrees, pull the scale back and it flips the rest of the way open, closes like any other liner lock.
