I've been interested in the Nessmuk pattern knife off and on, and the recent
"3 1/4" thread discussion abotu knives to use with food made me think the Nessmuk would be ideal, with its broad blade and all.

Does anyone make a Nessmuk folder? The closest I've seen is that limited Case cotton tester knife. If not a folder, who makes a production Nessmuk besides Bark River? I love Bark River, but I'd love to know what else is around.

the Nessmuk is like a leaf shaped blade. I think the Lum Chinese or the traditional Chinese blades (and folders) with the leaf shape blade will do the job, with a little regrinding to extend the edge near the tip in a more trailing point fashion.

I would call the Nessmuk a swept point. A trailing point is a narrow, filet-like point tipped upward.

I have developed a new slim pocket friendly model with a 3" A2 blade and a 4" handle.
Finishing off a couple today.
I will post some photos tomorrow.

ya, sweptpoint is a better description.

the Quandong is good. but you could get custom ones from Taiwan for about double the price...a lot better quality.

This is my new slim friction folder design.
I made it to be practical as well as unique.
I am making four each with different handle material.
This is the first one and the handle material is not only rare, but a bit of America history.
The wood is Cocobolo that was found by a friend in Bill Scagel's workshop after his death.
When I visited America last year I visited Fruitport and met with some of Scagel's friends and followers.
I was able to obtain a small piece of this wood and the knife is accompanied by a certificate stating its authenticity.
Back to the knife....
Blade is 3" of A2 and the handle around the 4" mark.
Red liners, ebony back-strap and brass pins.
The shield is antique copper.
Action is knife and smooth, but firm.
