Folding Razels?

I'm very tempted by both of the CRKT versions of the Graham folding Razels. I've already got their Ring Razel, so I know what to expect from the basic blade shape.

Does anyone own both the Folding Stubby and full-sized versions? If so, how do they compare (lock-up, point shape, security in hand, etc.). Any side-by-side, in-hand, or comparison pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks and best regards.

I have a Stubby fixed and a folding Stubby. I havent really used the folder but have used the fixed for just about everything. Really like the fixed blade except for the sheath. Looks like it was made as an after thought. The folder is a very sturdy put together blade and would make a good hard use knife, but its a little on the small size. I bought them as beater knives. I need to get the folder out and put it to work!

I have the ringed razel myself, and it's one of my most useful knives, but I don't know if I would trust the same design applied to a folder. The biggest advantages of the Razel design are the ways you can scrape, pry and wedge with that chisel tip, and those are all things you shouldn't do with folders, no matter what the blade is shaped like.

I'm keeping my fixed Razel, awkward sheath and all. The folding ones don't seem like sensible designs to me.

I have both. The stubby is my favorite by far. Solid as a bank vault.

But, the CRKT version really has crappy steel.:thumbdn: My assisant carries one, and I sharpen it for her a couple of times a week.

Get the Graham if you can afford it.

I have both the fixed stubby and the folding (rams horn). I have only used the fixed for scraping and package opening, so far the steel seems fine, so I can't w/ a sweeping stroke condemn the steel...cough....cough.
Both knives seem well constructed. I am pleased so far.

Good grief - Purchased a NIB, folding stubby from a prominant knife retaialer for $29. It's a thick, overbuilt workhorse and the steel is fine. The Lil puppy works hard. Getting ready to purchase my second one and "play" with it.

My CRKT Razel Stubby arrived today. I really wanted this for EDC, as the blade design is useful for all kinds of tasks. The quality was beyond my expectations:

While it's a liner lock design, the mechanism is extremely solid:

The main edge is razor-sharp OTB, and the chisel end is slightly less so, as this is a prying tool. The two forward points are scoring tools. Opens nicely with one-hand and snaps right out, locks up with zero play. Tested on a sheet of paper, a gentle swipe produced a straight, clean-edged cut with no effort.

Looking forward to carrying this awhile and suspect it will be a favorite.

The full size folder is great to use with gloves, I have it on my utility belt, and think it will stay there permanently. My only dislike is the liner lock, it feels like I am pushing the liner in more then moving it towards the scale.

Good knife...
