Folding Saw/Fixed Blade combo recommendations

A buddy of mine is looking for a folding saw/fixed blade combo set or if I can take them into it just a good fixed blade and maybe a folding saw from another company. My guess is that they'll be looking to spend no more than $100 between the two (know that really narrows it down). My thinking is that I don't think they'll get a good blade in a combo set. What they need is something to cut small brush that they can store in a set of saddlebags on their horses. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i'd reccomend heading to a decent hardware store and getting a folding pruning saw from their gardening section, cost: ~$20'ish or thereabouts.

then drop the remainder on a reasonable quality 4"-6" fixed blade. that good old reliable performer, the mighty Ka-Bar USMC, would fill his needs very nicely.

Buck also has some wonderful offerings inside that ~$80 budget.

or, go the cheap'n'cheerful route with a Mora or two. I just got my first two Moras (a Clipper 840 and 860) and they are just unbelieveably, rollickingly good blades. the easy-on-the-wallet price point of the Moras is just super tasty extra gravy.

This is sort of the idea I'm going to try to talk them into. His wife called me today and was talking about the saw/fixed combo but he had mentioned the fixed blade a while back. Thanks for the response for sure!!

Check out the Esee fixed blades. Their 4 incher is awesome! Plus that and the saw would probably be under the 100 mark but give you great tools.

My Corona saw has lasted years and years and it's cheap.
It's worked so well I've never considered replacing it.
