I had the shears demo at the Leatherman Store near PDX. Impressive. Bot from a recreational Co-op $54 (after dividend). 420 high carbon stainless steel shear, strap cutter, ring cutter, oxygen tank wrench, carbide glass breaker, pocket clip and big enough finger hole. Easy to carry folded, in pocket, via pocket clip as it folds quite small. I've carried folding scissors, Slip-N-Snip, for many years and will continue to EDC them. These shears give you more options. I walked 5 miles yesterday with the Raptor clipped into my left front jeans pocket. Didn't notice it after a bit. I intend to EDC and will see how useful they are. I like being prepared.

Thank you for looking.

The carbide glass breaker:

Resin sheath, molle compatible, can be used to carry these shears fully open. The locking sheath can be rotated to position the shears 360 degrees for your preference for drop draw or cross draw for examples.

That's a useful looking tool. I need to come up with an excuse to buy one.

My excuse: Potential use in an extrication of stranger(s) or family or myself even from a vehicle problem.

I find myself out in the sticks on seldom traveled roads, on my own, often motoring some distance. I happened upon the aftermath of a school bus hitting a power pole and there had been fire and high voltage electricity. This gave me a challenging nightmare for several following nights until I came up with a plan to aid in such a scenario which is: Pull up alongside the occupied bus/vehicle, take my capable crowbar (which I bot the next day and carry in my vehicle) and climb up on my vehicle to avoid electrocution, pop open the wreck and pitch survivors away from threats. I am not that clever so without tools I imagined myself a reluctant spectator as the occupants cooked. Probably never happen but I have to sleep at night.

Sidebar: After the excellent demonstration by the fellow at the Leatherman Store I gave him my Slip-N-Snip scissors (made in Southern Oregon). He said that Tim (Tim Leatherman) wanted the store to carry cool stuff made locally and that my scissors fit that bill so he would submit them as a candidate for merchandise. Good people. Good tools. Feels good to be an Oregonian.

BTW I didn't leave the store empty handed :)

Photos of the edges of the scissor blades. Notice that one is micro gimped and one is smooth. Both edges, where the cutting takes place, are sharp, true and pass each other at close tolerance.
