folding the blade back issue?

Hi,

I just saw a question on another forum which I want to echo here. On Benchmade knives, when the blade is folded back it comes to rest against a metal bar located inside the handle. Is there any risk of chipping the blade when folding it back into the knife's handle? Can it simply be snapped back in, or should extra caution be used when closing the knife?

Thanks,

TN

on my Benchmade, the blade (when closed) rest on the stop pin where the blade is flat. i.e. not sharpened. i wouldn't worry about it, just close her up!

The stop pin is fixed and should not cause any problems. Snapping it shut will not harm the blade edge.

like already said it isn't a problem. pretty much all of the newer knives are made so the cutting edge never hits anything inside. i had an older gentlemen tell me the other day that on his older multi blade knives and single blade knives he puts cloth coated in oil inside the handle. this keeps the edge from making contact with any metal and also helps the blades against any rusting
