Couldn't find any other treads on this subject so I thought i would start one. Looking for a quality folding utility knife. you know the ones that hold the razor blades you can change out. I know everyone makes one but i am looking for one that is a little better quality than the rest. Most of them that I have seen or had doesn't hold the blade vary tight and hard to open one handed. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Milwaukee with a push button lock. Had it for about a year now rock solid and it cost less than 20 dollars. (( not a paid BF Dealer )) this is the one I have.

I have a Superknife brand folding linerlock that has served me well for years (6/7 maybe?). it holds the blade tight and has a thumb disk opener, nice low ride tip down clip. I really like this knife.

+1 on the Milwaukee. I have had one for over a year also and it is solid, easy to open and close with almost no effort. The blades change with just the push of a button and lock in very solidly. It is the best I have found so far.

Abuse the Milwaukee every day at work and it is great. Easy open/close with the button lock and fast blade changes

So looks like I need to check out the Milwaukee then. I also saw Gerber makes one now called the Transit, it looks promising. I have seen a few videos on the SuperKnife brand and from what I understand they where bought out and the new ones are not as good as the older ones where the blade is held in buy a screw. I like that about the old SuperKnife's.

Fella I used to work with had a Milwaukee as well. I spray painted mine yellow, baked it in the oven on low for a few hours, and have a unique knife now. It's lasted almost two years. Amazing knife.

If you get one, buy the large size. The smaller ones are cute, but aren't very practical to use much unless you like to have your knuckles drag on the surface you're trying to cut. Just go to Lowes or Home Depot and knock yourself out. The Irwin brand with the little lever isn't a great design. It breaks off.

I saw one at _______ it was craftsman brand. I was interested but didn't purchase. $5 deep carry clip and very slim. Not big and bulky but uses full size blades.

I second Phair12 suggestion. I bought a grey one on sale at Sears for $3. Love the full sized handle. It is really ergonomic and the scales are functional as grip. No play in the handle and the thumbs stud is a HUGE plus for me. Two drawbacks: it isn't liner locked like the EAB and the blade is front loading. Not deal breakers for me at $3-5. Pocket clip is great, and it is just a tad but bigger than the EAB.

If I am out and about in nice clothes I might still pack the EAB because it is even more tiny but this one is now what I carry for other times. At the price point too, I don't mind banging this little guy up.

I use a orcon.... It holds the blade like a vault u can get them in flooring supply places for $25 and under.

So does anybody know just when the folding utility knives started coming into production? I never remember seeing one before five years ago, but that doesn't amount to much.
