What do ya think? I have been working on some drawings and modeling it with wood and metal. Anyone know of some good folder building books for help? I think a folding WSK would be a great pack tool.

Isn't a major design feature of the WSK its chopping ability?
A folder would have a serious disadvantage in its inherant design for chopping.
That said I have seen a very nice folding WSK in the May '06 tactical knives magazine, made by great Canadian custom maker Wally Hayes.

this one?

I was thinking something more aggressive with a saw back. Neat knife though.

Yeah ever since I ordered my Tom Brown Tracker #2, I wondered what a WSK folder would look like. I have been also modeling one for awhile unfortunately I am not a knife maker :( But if there ever was a WSK Folder I would buy it for sure.

It might have marketability but not the functionality. Mechanism will fail over time.
blade style will be flashy and intimidating but lacks durability to get 'er dun in the overall concept of WSK.
Good luck on the endeavor.

What I would do is get the Spyderco Captain, make it a stonger lock, and the top of the blade redo to make it a saw with a cover you can attach when it is in your pocket.

To make it strong enough to chop, you might make a friction folder, with the extended tang locking far enough down the handle to brace everything.

I don't see the utility, though. To be any kind of useful, it has to be a fairly large blade. That would obviate most of the value of a folder.
