I got a great little brush in a pair of clippers, then one with an old electric shaver, had one with a dog grooming kit (don't ask)... anyway, I've used this little brush for YEARS on the slippies, to get out the lint and crud. I'm sure lots of us have some kicking around. And, I was bored, so here's a pic of my choice for great slippy companion:

Good idea, RLR. I just moved an extra one I had to the knife maintenance kit.

(I hear a rimshot somewhere!) ;)

We can buy a gun cleaning kit from just about any store from
a sports store to a super box-mart to a mom and pop grocery store out in the boondocks. With slips as popular as they are and have been and will be, some smart entrenpeur should put a "kit" together with a brush like that, joint oil, wiping cloth etc!

Thanks for sharing what you use to clean out the lint etc. I think it would also be cool to have a brush like that but on the other end have a hard felt strip. This could be used to lay down a nice even thin coat of oil on the inside of the backspring, especially on those carbon steel slips.

Just a random thought!

That's a good idea Ken. The brushes on mine are kinda loaded with oil, so it serves a dual purpose all the time.

Glad folks like the idea. It does work great.

What a great idea. I had an older one sitting around in the bathroom cabinet and now it sits in the cigar box with pipe-cleaners, oil and toothpicks. Thanks!

This a great contribution RLR, I had one in a hair clippers kit that hardly ever gets used for that, so it now has a dual role as a slippy sweeper.

Once upon a time I use to use toothpicks as well, but not to long ago Jackknife suggested using simple paper matches out of a matchbook. Have been using them ever since, especially when traveling.

I just got bit a good one with my 62087 XX. For some reason that particular knife has it in for me.
