Hey Guys..
Thanks it was a lot of fun watching them grow up..
They literally changed overnight.. It was a pretty amazing thing to watch..
The picture where you see the birds beak inside the egg,, I actually watched it hatch over the course of about an hour or so....
The egg once the baby has outgrown it becomes very brittle and flakey.. They push themseleves out of the shell...
The last morning when I looked, two of the birds were out of the nest, couldn't find one of them, but the other was sitting on the ground, I put it back in the nest, but when I came home several hours later, they all had flown the coop.
I later found them scattered all over the front yard, in the bushes and trees..
As far as survival,, that I don't know..
The cat from next door was prowling around so I'm wondering if it got any of them...
I'd actually like to put some lead in that cat's ear.. That thing kills Alot of wildlife, and have caught it stalking the bird's at my feeder, quite often.
They say that a normal everyday housecat is responsible for over 100,000 bird deaths over it's lifetime, thats including it's offspring.
I like cats,, but any ferel cat I come across gets Whacked on my property..
Because of where we live, people like to toss liters of kittens out the windows because they think they'll be taken care of...
They are taken care of, thats true,, just not in the way they think. I hate doing it,, but don't want that many cats around my house...
Thanks
ttyle
