Fondled a Benchmade 810 Contego today

And it was awesome :thumbup:. It definitely felt like an improvement on the Rift. The handle was comfortable and the blade length was pretty good, and it has a deep carry pocket clip. If you're thinking about getting one, I'd say go for it.
 
I definatley want one! I wonder if they're going to come out with one that has a stone washed blade. Then I'll foresure buy one.

You said its an improvment on the rift, does it weight similar because to me it seems a lot bigger than the rift?
 
I'd say it's the same weight or maybe lighter. I didn't have a Rift to hold along next to it to compare to (although I do own a Rift), but they seemed very similar.
 
the rift (950) is one of the next knifes on my wish list. After seeing the Contego, it hasn't changed my mind. I still like the rift.
 
I got mine in today, all black plain edge. Its a very impressive knife but not sure yet if I am sold on it. I will try and update with some pics tomorrow.
 
I got one today also. It is alot slimmer than I had expected. Well made knife. It is a pocket shredder. I will probably sand some of the scale edges smooth also.. Overall, definitely a keeper for me.
 
Weight is listed at 5.92 ounces for the 810 Contego. The weight on the 950 Rift is listed at 4.80 ounces. The blade is longer and thicker on the Contego also.

I have one on order with the clear cerakote, plain edge blade.

The Contego is more than a full ounce heavier. And more than a quarter inch longer blade.
 
My favorite thing about that knife if the Jimping on the liners for extra grip. My biggest gripe is I need a lanyard hole!
 
I think I will get one when the plain edge, clear-coated version gets released.

I held a Rift at a gun show over a year ago and the handle didn't work for me.

It looks like the Contego will fix that though.
