Hi guys. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I am currently working on designing my maker's mark and have a question. I am trying to pick out some fonts. Any suggestions on fonts to use? Are there any legal issues with using a font? Should i only use a open source or public domain font?

There are hundreds of open-source font to choose from, I don't think you will have any legal issues at all. The biggest thing is to pick one that's clear and easy to read at a small size. KISS definitely applies to maker's marks if you ask me.

James is right on target. Also, the fonts with the tiny lines that come close to other lines can "bleed" over and mess up the etch a bit.

Thank you. I chose some free open source fonts (just in case) that seem to work well. Stencils and etches turning out good.
