Experienced knife people:

40% of my EDC use is around food. Open a package, cut an apple, fiddle during lunch, whatever. I got a shiny new UTC85 and the lubricant it ships with does not smell like something I care to ingest.

Looking for suggestions on what next? I'm thinking of sloshing rubbing alcohol through it to flush out whatever is in there, blow out to dry, and then a couple dots of mineral oil on the choil.

Opening the knife is not a hard no, but I'd rather not if I can avoid it. Interested in your ideas! Thanks

I'd stick with mineral oil if you want to be food safe...maybe in an atomizer/spray bottle so you can attempt to use it in the same way Microtech recommends Rem-Oil. Spray some inside, blow out excess.
