Though I am not really sure they called it a stockman. It is a 2007 series XVII MODEL 044163. This is one fine looking knife in the pictures I have seen, and I collect 4-blade stockman Ka-niff-ees.
Now, does anyone know the steel they used in the blades of that knife ???

To be truthful though I still have no clue what a " railsplitter " really is.

I've only seen "Railsplitter" used to describe that particular pattern of Schatt & Morgon/Robeson knives. It's basically an 3 5/8" equal end, swell center stockman. There have been two variations on it -- the four blade stockman and a two blade moose that was part of the Series XVI set.

I'm almost sure it's a name used only by Queen, as opposed to being a generic cutlery pattern name, like whittler, canoe etc.

There have been three variations - two blade moose, three blade stockman, and four blade. I first saw the name "rail splitter" used for this pattern of antique slipjoint in the early 1990's long before Queen made the pattern. The name might have come from Levine's books since he has a lot of pattern names listed and described.
