Have a question for all the Benchmade 710 owners. Does Benchmade have a coating on the d2 blades? If not how do you all keep the blade nice and rust/spot free?

Didn't you just start a thread with the same question in it like 4 days ago?

You can buy it with or without a coating. D2 is fairly stain resistant. Just keep it dry and you will most likely be fine.

I have stainless steels that rust MUCH worse than D2. Wipe the blade off at the end of each day and will be fine. Or don't wipe is off if you haven't cut anything wet or acidic and you will still be fine.

D2 isn't a rust magnet like 10XX series steels can be. The composition of D2 makes it reasonably good at not rusting. It will stain, but rusting the way we all think of rust, not for a while.

I have a spyderco millie in s30v develop rust spots before my 710 in d2 and I dont even dry it off before I put it away

My military has definitely been neglected at times and i have no stains except for a tad in the plunge I'm sure i can just wipe out.

I don't believe the coated blade is in production right now (unless you like serrations). I live in Florida and don't have a problem with rust on my un-coated 710, and I am not the best at keeping up with maintenance either. But, I must say that I was in Mississippi on the coast for about two weeks this summer and got rust spots on the blade. The knife barely even came out of my pocket. I was a little shocked. On a positive note, they cleaned off pretty easy.
