About a year ago, my best friend took me to his grandpa's place in Eastern Ohio... to my surprise, this is the location of Fehrman Knifemaking, of www.fehrmanknives.com
Well, my best friend's uncles make those amazing knives, and while my friend and I are trying to talk them into giving us a discount, :), I was wondering if anyone had used, or owned the Cold Fury model that they produce? I'm most likely going to purchase one anyways, but I was curious to know how they hold up in everyday environments, and are they physically too large to ever carry as a boot knife? I wouldn't do this all the time, but, if I wanted to conceal it, I was just curious if it would be too awkward on my leg?

Thanks in advance, and if you haven't checked out their knives, they really are great from what I've seen... at least the hair his uncle shaved off my arm was good enough to impress me.

AS far as tantos go, it is made of 1/4 inch 3v. Probably as tough as they come. However, that thickness will make it heavy. I have two knives in that size range, one of 1/4 inch and one of 3/16 and you cannot believe how much heavier the 1/4 incher is. If you want it as a boot knife try to stay around 10 inch length and 3/16.

I think the shadow scout my fit your bill better.
