For anyone with Cornish roots...

I prefer corn(ish) beef but pastrami will do.

Is the good St. Piran related to the Slavic god Perun?

Did Perun bring Christianity to Cornwall? :)

The Celtic saints tend to be numerous, very local and real people, the miracles not withstanding.

I must admit I don't know much about any trade links between the Celtic fringe and Eastern Europe which might have brought information about other gods!

Perun was a sort of down-to-earth guy for a sky-god. He was the god of thunder, and his name is etymologically connected to the Russian word pernut', to fart.

As far as the Celtic fringe and Eastern Europe, the closest link I can find was Ivan the Terrible who suggested to Queen Elizabeth that they marry and unite their kingdoms' prospects. The English at the time were interested in trading in the East, and Ivan was cooperative in this.
