Hey Bruce, thanks for updating your shop photos, I just got around to seeing the revised ones. Tell me about the gizmo you have for hogging off scale. Looks to be a cutoff saw blade?

Hi Robert, That is a home made grinder with a 3hp 1800 rpm motor, double pulleys and 14" stone. Its an animal! I have a couple 24" stones for it but need to slow it down first.

I think I need one of those hoggers! Scale will ruin a belt in no time.

Wow, I like that, and I hate scale! I'll set something up. From the angle of the photo, it looked like the width of the disk was very narrow (cut-off disk). Yep, keeping the wheel in balance, and running a touch slower would be good if you can. Did I say I hate scale?
The vinegar bath does do some good, it's messy, and the vinegar doesn't last long, so abrading the scale off seems to be the way to go.
