For those of you who own a Hest DPx 2.0, are you guys/gals having any problems with the knife? I heard about the first generation having problems, but what about the 2.0? I see a lot hitting the for sale forums. So I became curious. I picked one up yesterday, mine seems great. Did I get lucky?

Mine's been great! The knife is smooth to open and lock up is solid, no blade play. My only issue is the rotoblock turns too easily engaging on accident from time to time, but that's a minor annoyance and nothing to big for me. All in all I'm happy with the knife.

Still putting mine through its paces, but after two weeks this is one superb knife

I'm still trying to find things I would like to see changed, and so far have only came up with minor aesthetic alterations

Mine has been great too. I've had it for a little over a week. The lock bar stuck at first but it's smoothing out with use and feels pretty good right now. I'm very happy with it and if you get a good one, well worth $175 IMHO. I've carried mine each day since I got it.

They disassemble and reassemble quite easily too. No Loctite on mine which is nice. I cleaned mine up inside and out and she went right back together perfectly and seems to operate much smoother now too.

Mines got a slight bit of play when open, but i took her apart last night and closed the lock a little, now she's perfect. Id put the 2.0 up against a strider or ZT any day. Only changes I would make is remove the logo from the clip and decoat the blade, other than that...its just about perfect. Oh, and I would love to see someone whip up a Ti slab to replace the G10 (but that's just me :D)

OK, so I'm not alone then. I after examining the knife thought to myself this is a 300.00 blade, for 175.00. An absolute steal. Gotta feeling the bottle opener will see some use:)

I would also love to see replacement scales in Ti or other G10 colors(mainly orange:D). I own the ZT 0551, it had vertical blade play and has been sent to ZT for repair. That said that 0551 is a sweet blade and seems a bit more solid and refined in it's fit & finish. My 0551 is also a bit smoother in both in opening and closing than my Hest 2.0. All in all I like both and I anticipate the lockup to be solid on the ZT when it comes back home from repairs. Both will be seeing lots of carry time, that is until the 0561 hits the door:D

Here's a few vids on the 2.0 This guys having some blade play.

Although I do like the knife and have considered buying it. I'm personally going to pass on this knife until they get the lock angles right.

I'd hate to buy this knife and have it work good for a month or two then have it develop blade play.

Is there anyone here who has EDCed the 2.0 consistently for a few months straight?

Ive been carrying mine to work (construction) everyday for about a month. Most of the finish is worn on the blade...actions still stiff, but Id rather have a stiff action with solid lockup than fast action with wobble

Mine is just fine; I haven't had any problems at all.

At first it was a little stiff to open, but has smoothed out nicely. I really like the "opener" as it works great as a wave.

I have no complaints with mine...it's a great knife!

Well I guess I should have researched the knife before buying it. I am going to edc mine and see how it does. I had a benchmade stryker that did that. I can't tolerate it. I will send mine back if it happens to mine. I only buy axis locks and CRK knives.
Until this one.

Actually last time I was at my dealer, I told him about an axis locek in I think, the bone collector series doing the exact samething. I posted about a few months back but even axis locks can rattle when shaken. What happens is the blade tang is not cut right on the top part that the axis lock rides up on. If cut at the wrong angle it will ride all the way up the tang and be loose.

Close. The main difference is that the HEST 2.0 doesn't have a steel liner of any kind on the G10 side. Shorter blade but much thicker. D2 versus Elmax. The HEST is lighter to carry too. Every 0551 I had came with a sticking lock bar too until it worked in a bit . . .

How would you compare the HEST to a 0551?

I recently got one too and it has been fantastic. No problems and one heck of a great knife.

I'm starting to feel better about my purchase now. Maybe they got the problems sorted out.

And why they tacked on the 2.0 :)

I'll post my updated thoughts in a few more weeks to see how she holds up but I have to say that after a week and a half of openings and closings, a disassembly and carefully and lightly applied lube with a mixture of well shaken Rem-Oil and Mil-Tec 1 she's super smooth and the lock bar has set in really nicely and is almost stick free now as well. No blade play under fair and reasonable pressure either. The handle is roomy and comfortable and the blade length is fine for general EDC for sure. I even like the clip. It seems pocket friendly so far. The balance is really nice too, right in the middle of the finger choil. The knife doesn't feel like it's going to teeter on you at all when balanced on the pad of your index finger.

I can't speak for the consistency of the 2.0's out the door but it's still Lionsteel and I assume they might be pretty consistent. I'm quite happy with mine and I see a lot of pocket time now and in the future for this knife.

Judging the knife and not the HEST/F history around here . . . :p

I had to send my 1.0 back b/c of a slipping lock. The 2.0 replacement has been great after a couple of months use.
