Aloha bro,

Is Darth Vader my...I mean...IS the Drop Point Trance getting axed???

Please say it isn't so...:(

God bless and stay warm!

I sure hope not, it's made me drop the Skyline (my EDC - bar none - for 3 months) ever since I got it. The DP Trance (and the original) are sweet folders for a very low price.

Great performance and decently strong too. Great blade geometry and the opening action is superb.
And the ergos are some of the best in the business, regardless of price.

I think this "rumour' is based on the fact G.Scott could not find it in the catalogue.

It however is still listed on page 122 of the fall2008/spring2009 Magnum Catalogue.

Concerning the new German Law there might be a problem with the flipper in future designs as being interpreted as assisted opener? I don't know what the Co. could comment on that?

I like the WHART design you showed but i would suggest either;

a) thumbstuds and no lock
b) no thumbstuds and a lock

In case of a) you might think in direction of a recoil on the front of scale and blade (think ukpenknive) to put your indexfinger as safety for accidental knive closing.

Detent on blade (to prevent it from opening by gravity) will be needed to avoid switchblade catagory confusion.

In case of b) Extra cutout in the scale to facilitate opening without thumstuds. And maybe a nailnick.

A planet wize legal design might be an interesting concept?

;)

I totally agree Lycosa:(.

We however have to deal with the circumstances and adapt imo.

I know, Broh!
Have you seen Filip Deleeuw's Friction Folders?? Those folders will shake things up!! And they are legal---I think. Pix on on the USN, Custom Arena. Tnx!!

See my original thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=598449. I can't imagine them discontinuing the DP, it doesn't make sense. I was just posing the question for the reasons I listed in the first thread.

Chad, sorry if I've caused you to loose any sleep over this. :o I'm pretty sure someone at Boker would contact you if one of your designs were being canned, and the DP is still on the Boker USA website, so I don't think you should sweat it too much. I hope Marketing or TJT will post and set things straight.

That would be odd since the knife gets a high praise on the Internet. A bunch of people I know even consider it the best folder available in that price range.

Seriously Boker maintains plenty of knives that aren't half as popular, it wouldn't make sense to remove it.

Scott i did not mean to reproach you anything. Everything is cool.

I think the Trance is a great folder and very popular. I just got mine and they are available. Why would the Co. invest in altering a design (trance dp) and then dump it within a year. Would not make sense imo.

;)

No promblem. No offense taken at all, I just wanted to point Derek to the original thread for reference, and quoted you so he'd know why I was directing him to that thread.:cool:

Odd, I went to edit the word "promblem" and double posted. Sorry about that.

Sorry guys, I haven't been able to access the internet from home, and have been very busy at work, so I haven't been able to keep up with stuff.
Here in the US, we won't know what is discontinued for a while yet, but I will let ya'll know when I find out.

Thanks, Terry

Sorry guys, to join the party so late!
But I am more than busy working on new catalogs and other projects. So I have been not here for quiet a while...

But, we do NOT plan to take the Trance black out of our product line...

Hey, but getting one or two... just in case... cannot too bad ;)
