One of my best friends asked me to make his dad a knife for his birthday, so here is what I came up with:

6.5" OAL, 3" D2 blade flat ground, rose wood scales with 1/4" mosaic pins and 1/4" lanyard tube, 9 oz tooled sheath. I use this blade as my EDC in a horizontal sheath with green canvas micarta scales.

Looks great, Smitty! How did you accomplish the darker edge along the sewn side of the sheath (or is it still wet from moulding or dyeing?)

Very nice little knife, that D2 should cut forever. I'm sure he'll be very happy with it, as I was with that KITH knife you built me years ago!

Thanks! The dark edge is just a second swipe with the same tan dye. I proof the leather (wet it), let it sit about 30 mins and then dye it (this allows an even no streak dye job), wait another 30 to 60 mins and then tool the leather while still damp. I then pre form the sheath and allow the leather to totally dry and put the sheath together. After I am all done I just take the same dye and run it around the edge to give a different look on some sheaths.
