I've always been a bit covetous of Lynn's Surefire. However, there were always bills to pay. That ended today, Saturday night.
I went to our local west-side Gander Mountain and bought a Surefire 6P, and also the single LED head, number KL3. The body of the 6P was labeled as 'gun metal,' but it actually appears lighter, sort of a turned aluminum. I like the cold blue-white of an LED, and the batteries last much longer with this set-up.
The prices now are great. Just this summer, the flashlight and the replacement head would have been +$150.00 dollars at a retailor. I paid $128.00 retail for the light, the head and three packages of the replacement lithium batteries.
Like all geeks with a new light, I went home to an interior closet, and shut the door. Then I switched on the LED.
Zounds! I had retina sparks that took a few minutes to clear! I can only imagine what the multi-LED replacement head would have done to my eyes!
I phoned Lynn and told him what I had done, and his response was typical for a friend who had done something really stupid.
Lynn, I'm glad I made your day!
