eveyone who has an ipod i think knows its lack of resistence to scraches. i think the lucite looks wonderfull and in the darkness it almost lights up. but it scratches all the time. i have a little bit of ocd so scratch on my ipod is very big for me. i was wondering if you were gunna make an ipod what would you make it out of?
solid diamond, not encrusted just a slab of diamond, it will nevr scratch. :)

You can cover it with a skin if you're that worried about scratches.

iPod skins

Kind of expensive though, they want 30 danes for this thing.

Or you can make your own...

If I was building one, I'd make it all badass-style out of hard-anodized dull green aluminum like my Surefire flashlight. Not that it wouldn't ever scratch, but it would sure be a lot harder to do.

Why not Magnesium?

It's hard to scratch and lightweight.

It held up so well that Apple had to stop using it on notebooks :p and switch to something that would mar faster and make people upgrade.

The funny thing is that cheap plastic would hold up nicer to the abuse of being a pocket music device than the fancy stuff they use now (while not being nearly as pretty i admit).

Magnesium is a great idea.. IBM uses it for their laptops still.

My ipod is scratched to ****, I've never used a cover for it. It still plays music quite nicely.

yea i was gunna get the evo2 they givin free click wheel protecting things now and they got the screen cover on it (upgraded from the old evo) but i just bought a italien leather case and the plastic used to protect the screen is gettin yucky from frequent use, my only thing with the skin is it is said to atract alot of lint, then i heard if you rub baby powder on it you wont have that problem. so i dont know what i am gunna do. my next ipod investment is going to be that jbl sound stage.

at least it is not only me that thinks the lucite scratches too much.

I hate scratching anything new that i get but once the first scratch is out of the way im not afraid to beet the hell out of it. Some of my most loved things are incredibly tore up but keep on tickin.
