Another one, recently finished this tanto. It bit me twice in the finishing stages so it has been blooded. The blade is forged 1050 with a copper habaki and bloodwood and horn mounts. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for your comments.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

There's something special about traditional Japanese blades.

I love the unpainted Saya and Tsuka sometimes less is definitely more!

Thanks for posting it!

I thought I was going to see a modified tanto and was very surprised and pleased to see this more traditional knife instead.

One of the things that stands out about this knife for me is thelack of ornamentation. I find these less ornate Japanese knives to be more to my liking.

Wow, I'm glad I overlooked my prejudice against tantos and took a look at this one! I'm actually a big fan of the traditional tanto, it's a gorgeous design, but the modified 'American' tanto is a farce IMO. That is one very beautiful blade, simplistic beauty, always the best kind!

Thank you for the comments and kudos. I really like the more simple and austere japanese blades also. It seems to make the blade stand out. I never really liked the americanized versions, but they do have their place. I have always been fascinated by the temperlines anyhow. Again thank you and I will try to post more japanese style blades. Got a couple more coming up in the next few weeks.
