for PITDOG, your knife has been made

They are PRICY.... that said there are some deals every once in awhile on ebay and I grabbed myself a Strikar for about 30 bucks. Solid knife but not outstanding anymoreso than a Becker Necker.

Yeah I have seen those and did use a little of their traits in my design......IMO they are too short to be fully utilised and also the grind is not optimum for that purpose of blade !

Here is my updated version.....

WOW what fo you guys want everything for ten bucks... 5 out of six post about the price, seriously ...how much would you spend on a shotgun or boots but whoa more than the cost of a mora..on a knife that looks like not too many others made to a decent quality standard of good materials by a north american company for a 175 bucks....

with attitudes like that no wonder China gets all our jobs.....

Lynn Thompson loves guys like you......

Good God guy, I had a custom hatchet made by a great maker on this site for a good amount less than their asking price. Maybe it can be purchased cheaper else where. Thanks for accusing me of causing our jobs to go to China, Really appreciate that. IMO it is charging those kind of prices that enables China to sell their stuff here.

Well TOPS competes with alot of other working knives like RAT and the Kabar Becker series and don't seem to want to be competitive about price... in which case I don't feel like I need to be one of their regular customers. Like I said my Strikar is no more outstanding than a Becker Necker, which is a superb knife by any account, but costs 30 dollars-not 130.

all apologize for being harsh, I'm from Windsor....

I better words TOPS has made quality goods for a long time, and has consitantly made quailty knives, I persoanally don't think that a knife that size should sell for less than that. IMHO vs the other brands mentioned from what I have seen of both Tops wins in fit and finish, 130 bucks for a neck knife is not a bad price for a well made knife.

Personally I would like to see all the makers charge more, you guys should get paid for what you do, I have to give it up simply because its not cost effective to compete and oddly enough I have to keep my hands clean. BUy the time you factor in hydro , belts , materials, glue, screws , and most of all your health,

I think Rick Frigault said it best to me ," we are here to sell these knives not give them away"

J. Wade- I would agree if they were custom made but they are not, and from what I have seen of their products I cannot say that their fit and finish are top notch as they come with way too obtuse of edges. For example my Hoffman Harpoon could not cut paper when I got it NIB. TO me that is absolutely unacceptable in a knife of the price range that I paid, and especially in a "one knife" survival knife. As it was I did not call it a knife, only a spear head. Plus I am value purchasing my knives these days and to compare 1095 and Micarta to other offerings (with edges) means that they will not be seeing my money, I am sure that my Wood Jewel puuko, Barker Crowell Competition chopper or Fiddleback EDC would work much better than the knife shown, and were all at a much better price. The only things from TOPS that intrigue me are the Pasayten Light Hunter and their axes- but again are priced out of my limit for such things.

I do not think that you, as a custom maker, should be comparing yourself to a factory made knife either as they are two different markets and manufacturing processes.

Me either for plain 1095 with a questionable heat treat, no thanks. Better blades for that money by far.
