So last night I patinaed a knife for my buddy. I had a pattern in mind and it took a few times of removing an retrying until it got to a place where I was satisfied. I used mustard for pattern, apple cider vinegar for color. also last night I began sanding and shaping the scales, well some sawdust got on the sheath and I rinsed it off. Stupid me apparently didn't wait long enough or I forgot I rinsed it and put the knife in the sheath over night. Took it out this morning and there is a 1/4 light rust spot, my guess from a drop of water inside the sheath. So to my question, I know how to remove rust and how to remove a patina, but what technique, product, method can I used to remove the rust spot WITHOUT damaging the awesome patina I finally got. Soap and water? Flitz? Rubbing compound? Jedi mind tricks? Or should I just chalk it up yo dumbness and re patina AGAIN?

WD-40, vinegar, and some other acidic foods can remove some of that rust, if not "convert" it to a dark patina. It may not match what you have on the rest of the blade, but from there you could use a scotch brite pad, lightly on that area.

Clich, try the eraser on a pencil. Be gentle and it should come off and leave the patina.

redo it :) as penance for stripping good blade :>

Yeah, you look like you need to take a 2lb dumper in that pic. Best leave the Jedi Mind Trick to the Jedi. Call me, Moose Wan Kenobi.
