sorry, I'm an AR dummy, but lookin to learn...

there are 3 lengths right? 16",,,20",,,, and 24"?

so is this a 24"?

thanks for any info, I think I'd like to try my hand at a build (got a buddy that'll help me who's done it before)

just tryin to line up what I think I know with what actually is

Well bud. No. This is a 16" barrel carbine legnth gas system. I also have a 16 and 18 inch both in a mid legnth gas system

so this is a shorty? thats really interesting, in the pics it looks like a monster! lol
so why go to mid length? is it quieter? more accurate?

what I was interested in putting together was going to be the smallest one possible, this one would be like a grail gun for me,,,, I cant let a little thing like cash stand in my way, right?

Nah Man - 16 is still legal for most of us but it's not a shorty

You can get an AR barrel cut to any length you want, but in IL I don't think you can go below 16". "Midlength" is in reference to the gas system(distance between the gas port and bolt carrier group). The midlength gas systems are popular for running cleaner, having less felt recoil, and being more reliable(due to running cleaner and offering a different dwell time).

I don't own one, but I've never noticed any decrease in sound or increase in accuracy on the midlengths I've played with.

cool, thanks for all the data guys. as usual it turns out I dont know shit,
but I caught the AR fever, so now its time to learn...

Not a bad deal, my factory Colt upper cost me seven and a half. This one has some nice goodies on it,,, :)

I gotta ask J, what are you putting on your BCG?
