That is really nice.

Looks like the same camo material as a recent FFBM and the famous SMOG and Serrated SMOG Wardens.

Have you compared your handle to those Wardens -- which I know you have? Bet the material is the same, just sanded smooth in this case.

You've got good taste. :)

And ... in the spirit of another recent poster ... is that Talon Hole chamfered??

Gee Whiz...my name in a thread starter, why I almost feel famous!;)

Thanks Tony. I think I'm finally seeing what the ASH1 really has to offer with these new scales. Those being the tan/black and the orange/black. These particular scales really bring the ASH1 to life. I wasn't too sure how the thickness of the INFI (0.220") would hold up to Mags. My thinking was that the Mag scales would dwarf the INFI, to the point of making it look even thinner than what it is. But it is quite obvious I was mistaken. I'm starting to fully understand the business aspect of Jerry's decision to start using G-10 more. I suspect that we may eventually see micarta go away completely. Personally I think this will be a shame but I do appreciate the logic of it. G-10 obviously has many more options than micarta does.

Of course all this is making me even more excited and impatient for the release of the ASH1. I'm really curious to see what the pricing will be like. Any one have a guess as to what the LE ASH1 will go for?

More importantly, will the LE come with a "new" handle material, something other than tiger.

I'm with you on this one. As nice as G-10 may be and even if for some utility reasons it is better than micarta; to my eye micarta is just way more interesting to look at.

I would wager that the LE will have tiger hide micarta. Being such a big part of Busse history, I would find it very surprising if Jerry offered the come back of the original SH without micarta, let alone tiger hide. My feeling is this is a long way off. The phasing out of micarta will not happen overnight, but I would think in installments. I imagine Snakeskin and Tiger hide will be the last to go. Maybe in a couple of years the LEs will no longer be offered with micarta.

I really feel strongly on this Tony. The micarta, IMHO, feels better and has a better look to it. I'm talking mostly about the Snakeskin, Tiger Hide, and Green Linen. Tan and black canvas/paper don't really have a great look but they make up for that in function. The Tiger and Snake have a natural feel and look to them, I've had people actually ask if they were some type of wood. I still think that they are tougher than G-10 but I'm sure someone could disprove that. Makes you almost want to start collecting all the old stuff, I'm thinking someday Busse knives with the "original" micarta will be worth Bank! I guess only time will tell.

I'm going to buy up all the micarta and finance Porkducci to re-handle knives.

Don't worry he'll be bonded not to grind on 'em.

I already have my 3/8" black linen micarta and solid fasteners ready to go, I just need the knives!

Beautiful blade. Love the G-10. Love the ASH-1 Great Pics. My ASH-1 is my only SH but it is on its way to becoming my favorite knife. I hope to get one to use as the one I own is a definite safe queen

I would think that G10 would not be near as "grippy" as canvas or even linen micarta when wet, especially when wet with a viscous material. Anyone have any field experience on this aspect of G10?

Oh, yes.

I, too, am Old School.

All the way. :)
