For survival :Best Sling Shot Marksman - Possibly In The World.

I tried using slingshots for years. I could'nt hit the broad side of a barn with one. Cool video.

I can't hit anything with mine either.

I notice with interest that the bands on his are longer, and it looks like slightly lighter pull weight then the store bought ones like Marksman.

Make sure you have a consistent anchor point, generally at the corner of the mouth and keep practicing, you will get it. I promise. :)

When you can the slingshot to the side, one fork will stick up, some people use that as a reference point, almost like a front sight, as well.

Round ammunition like white marbles (act like tracers too), steel bearings and lead balls are excellent ammunition. Round rocks as large as marbles are free. Avoid small rocks that are oblong shaped or that have flats, after you get good with a slingshot, you can use them too.

This has been posted before, for good reason, that guy was awesome with a bean shooter. I love when he shoots the bugs from something like 15ft+. Totally amazing!

I carried one as a kid, used to kill snakes with it, we had a lot of snakes, rattlesnakes, pygmy rattlers, coral snakes and I mistakenly killed a couple of red rat snakes thinking they were dangerous until I learned other wise.

I wonder if I still got it, haven't tried in years, wonder where he gets the rubber bands from.

All great information. Practice is the most important thing of all. I grew up with a sling shot in hand and have become quite proficient with one. For practice I really like to you paintballs. They work great and last for a while. I also switched bands on mine to get a lighter and longer pull. Helped alot with stability and consistancy.

I started shooting slings a few months ago when I was laid up from hip surgery. Made a little range in my house thats about 10 feet. Now Im hooked on it. Its great fun and cheap.I always take my slingshot with me when I go out in the woods, neat for road hunting chipmunks .

That video brought back a wave of fond memories.

That man is uncannily like my own grandfather (who passed away some 4 years ago), albeit Filipino and a bit more of a curmudgeon! Every single day, at about 4 PM when he retires to his cabin with his pack of Champions (cigarettes) he lights up with an ancient Zippo, a bottle of cheap gin and his slingshot at the ready with a few roundish stones. They were his daily "vitamins" LOL! The cigarettes and zippo, the round bottle of gin and a glass and that slingshot were the images I've come to remember him by.

BTW, the slingshot was made from Guava wood, a tough, knotty wood but was easily shaped and was plentiful in those parts.

As I recall, although he was nowhere as accurate as that Mr. Hussey-the-Slighshot-Man, but he's taken down quite a few oversized field rats and the occasional low flying bird through the years when I was growing up.

I work in a hospital and have noticed those flat blue bands of rubber they use to tie around the arm prior to drawing blook. I suppose those would work might be latex not "gum rubber" as he says. I suppose no matter what you use, consistency is the key. Do it the same and begin to adjust till it becomes muscle memory and habit.

So any of you fellas seen one of these?

A Mate brought one back from the SHOT show several years ago with a view to importing them but they were in a loophole in weapons law and he couldn't get anything in writing. Wrist brace slingshots were banned for many years here when they last re-wrote the legislation they left them out but were making noises about putting them back in.

I have not seen those before. I have to admit that when I first opened the link I figured that the price would be well over a hundred. Not bad prices for the design and equipment that comes with them.
It's to bad about that wrist brace law. I started without the brace when I was a kid but have really come to enjoy having the support. The slingshot that I have is adjustable on the band post as well as the wrist support. It is a very simple design that offers a ton of adjust ability. I don't remember who made it all I can remember is that it is not a Marksman.

When I was a kid I had a sling shot with a wrist rest. I was really good with that thing. You didn't really aim, you just practiced a lot and just shot what you wanted to hit without thinking about it. That was lots of fun.

I'm quite partial to using 1 and 2 oz round lead fishing sinkers for ammo........ something about a nice heavy knock down round , just works for me. I have used the ultralight plastic shot (shoots faster) but i prefer the heavy rounds

I am all about 1/2" diam. (.50 cal.) steel or lead balls. Will use .45 cal. lead in a pinch but prefer larger. Steel is faster, lead hits like a Mack Truck.
