For the better half...

It took weeks (ok, months) of sneaking around amidst a myriad of honey-do assignments on the weekends, but i finally finished making the sheath for one-half of my honeys upcoming birthday present, since she doesn't come to this forum, and the sheath is for a GW, i figure i'm safe to share it here a little early.

Calfskin lined, and between the lining and he leather is a formed Kydex ring at the neck. Makes it pretty stiff, seemed like a good idea at the time, but added a lot of unexpected work.

She likes clip-on stuff...

Nothing fancy, just lined leather with a small kydex band around the mouth to keep it open. I seldom get to make even part of her present myself, but trying my hand at leather for the Pork Shank gave me the confidence. And besides, if she doesn't like the cheap pants, well, she is getting a Busse in 'em, right? ;)

The other half? Well, i have about a week to "sneak" around and do another, a holster!

Wish me luck.

So what forums does she go on?

Maybe this one in the future, this will be her first Busse.

But she's a hard core second amendment advocate, especially around women's issues, there are a few forums out there, but not many.

Thanks all for the kind words, it's that kind of encouragement after my pork shank pants experiment that got me into this!

Gotta say, though, there's only one part of this process i don't like... stitching.

If i do more than two or three more projects, i'm either going to greatly accelerate the onset of my arthritis, or have to buy a machine... yeesh, i can only image what those cost?

When I saw the title "Leather - For the better half..." I wasn't sure if I should open it or not!

Now that I realize we're not talking about lingerie ;), I must say, nice work!

Much appreciated!

and i'm still cracking up from your comment, i honestly hadn't thought of that! I guess my mind doesn't work that way...

But now that you mention it... you do give me some ideas. Hmmm... what's that process of leather working where you wet the leather, and you use the wooden dowels and tongue depressors and you form the leather around every curve and angle on your firearm?

Oh, nevermind.
