it's not the first time this has been posted, I bet... but what to buy for your first emerson knife,
any help
looking for a hard core work knife, let's pretend it's the last knife you will ever buy, especially if the wife finds out :p

For me, I would go with a HD 7. I like the blade shape and the ti frame lock is just badass. Can't wait for a new batch of them to become availiable.

The cqc7 is the classic emerson that paved the way for every other tac knife. Its constantly being improved on even after all these years, and will probably last a lifetime. Its a great knife to "feel out" emersons with, and then you can decide wether you want to go with a larger or smaller knife for your NEXT purchase....

Maybe it would be helpful to know whats the hardest work this knife will see, or if you are going to be carrying it every day, or what reasons you are going to carry it....

I would have to say the CQC-12 (if you can find one with a plain edge blade), or the CQC-8.
The 8 is probably the best all round knife EKI make and a dman fine knife in general.

No, no, no... Emerson makes a nice knife... but you have to understand your own needs and wants. Go to their website. Consider the blade shapes and sizes, and also handle lengths, grip shapes and sizes. Find what appeals to YOU. You can make up your own mind, and you can't go wrong.

Or.... you can ask the oppinions of people who have handled and used every knife in the EKI production line up to help with your decision.

Ergos are differrent. People hands are differrent as well. You'll have to find the one that fits YOU.

Of the ones I've owned,(11,commander,8, and mini 8) the 8 fits the best followed closely by the mini 8. The mini get more carry time because it gets less stares and I have a framelock conversion for it.

FWIW, a lot of people like the 8. I guess it fits a lot of hands.

NO OTHER knife has felt so good in my hand.
Except Busse, and that's a fixed blade.

CQC-8! it was my first emerson...i think its a great all around knife and the ergos fit most hands very well! Its an awesome knife:D

I did it I got my first Emerson's bought 2 knives I now own a CQC-8 w/wave awesome F@#king awesome knife and I bought the LA GRIFFE BT as well that's a real scary little knife simply awesome.
the price 167.00 us for the cqc-8 and 80.00us for the la griffe + 12.00 for fed ex shipping.
doing the happy dance now, wife is too she gets to go shopping too.

A100. After going through several Emerson Forums and even playing with several from friends at a shop. That is what I came up with. Perfect shape for my working in the construction trades. (heavy Equipment) I use mine every day for the most funky cutting and scraping. I have cut so many things with it I shouldnt have I actually went and bought another.

The mini-8 (horseman) is same as cqc-8 just smaller, if looking for smaller blade with great handle. Haven't handled the regular 8 but the mini handle feels wonderful.

The smaller mini cpc7 is a little tank of a knife, very very solid.
