What alloy would be best suited for using as a mold dies in hot pressing metal?

Thanks Robert

The hot work die steel series H is designed for that .H13 is a common version...What are you going to make now Mark ??

I think Mete hit it right on the nose.

A near by foundry makes the dies for an outfit here in town that makes 200K or more horse shoes every year and they use H13. I have been to the factory and they really pound the he-- out of them.

You can use EDM for any steel but make sure it's tempered after EDM. EDM actually vaporizes the steel and leaves a thin layer of untempered martensite .If this is not tempered it will crack. In the early days of EDM we had a big education job to explain this to people .

You going to have any of that secrete stuff left when I come down on the 15th.
