for those who handled the bm-f and have/used the battle rat,

what are the similarities/differences?

is the blade of the bm-f thicker then the br? (it looks like it form the pics)

is the blade of the bm-f longer?

is the bm-f as blade heavy as the br, or heavier?

does the handle have a lot more room on it then the br?

how much thicker is it then the br's? (width wise, as well as heigth)

will the blade smell like sweet wd-40 like my br did when i first got it? (come on guys, who here DOESNT smell their blade when they first get it???? :D )

i noticed from the day 1 post that the choil on the bm-f is fairly small (in comparison to the other models), is it still fairly comfortable to use? (lol... probably not the kind of knife youd want to use when helping with your kids art art projects, but you never know when the scissors might up and go missing :) )

god... the skull crusher/bottom talon hole... it truly is evolution... sooooo bueatifull...

thanks!

hehehe... i have a coworker who is shipping off for airforce boot camp in about a month, and was talking about looking for high end knives and finding nothin on ebay, so i just coyley (and by coy i mean tossing out the phrase "best knife you can buy" )mentioned busse and swamp rat. he asked, ya, but could this thing cut sheet metal? (badicoot) and i said without really thinking to much about it, oh ya, this'll do that. his face lit up like a christmas tree on fire:D :D everyone just stands around it struck by the bueaty and chaos of the moment:) )

Seth,
I think the questions you raise are very good ones. Unfortunately I don't think that many will be able to answer them completely until the BM-F's start shipping. There were so many knives at Blade I can't even remember what the BM-F felt like(except that I liked it)

And I didn't do any direct comparisons with the BR.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help :D:D

lol, thats okay, that was help enough :)

more then anything, im just trying to justify buying another blade of the br's general nature... when i hold it i think "BAH, ill never need anything more then this"

but then when i set it down, little dancing cliff stamp reviews waltz through my idle mind reminding me of the damage recieved on the basic (7?) and make me want infi...

one of the things that i like about the br is that the balance point is actually ON the blade, so even when choking up its ever so slightly bade heavy. if the bm-f is slightly wider, and of the same solid heavy metal feel - it seems like it would feel like a lot more knife in your hand... (concious is screaming "what the hell could you possibly do with more knife then that?!?!?!?!", little devil saying, "pffft! anything i damn well want!")

i also reeealy like the handles - and the only thing that would make me want something else - i if the handles on the bm-f were considerably thicker then that of the ergo line, because they seem to be comparable to the width of the br, and in that case, id rather have the added grip and temp protection from the open steel.

more then anything, its those three factors, steel, blade geometry, and handle thickness that make me wonder if i should get the bm-f. the infi isnt an issue, but the others will determin wether i can hold out an extra 2 months (lol.... infi is like going on a hunger strike, - you WILL EVENTUALL have to eat, wether you like it or not :D )

oh well... i guess i just might have to take a leap of faith on this one, and just know that im getting more knife... if only i could win the lottery.... i just need two knives, the bm-f and a small edc, ala the pub-def-tac... and the ax i cant have from busse, so i have to go third party. with those three, im set for anything.

anyways - thanks for your reply eric, it did help :)

ah, but "satisfaction is the death of desire" (hatebreed album title)

i did a comparison shot of my br and put the two side by side in strabs picture (have no idea if it was acurate or not... - wich is why i didnt post it...) and it made it look as though the bm was indeed slightly thicker in the blde, slightly longer, and with more belly at the tip. and the handle looked to be considerably longer with the addition of the back curve.

also made the br look a bit more bowiesque.... lol....

id give in - but i cant!!! they arent ready to order yet!

its like a carrot on a stick - when you bolted to the floor...:(

Maybe you should call the shop. I'm sure you can work something out about reserving your very own BM-F. :)

In a nice desert tan, too. Or black, if you really must. ;)

is there any way to get desert black? (aka arabian night) :D  :D

if the desert finish is actually tuffer then the crinkle coat, id rather have it, but i dont wear anything but black... and while the crinkle does reflect light - it still fits better then a light toned stretch of non reflecting metal.

lol.... if they can actually color the desert finishes, oooooh the options..... THE PINK MISTRESS!!!

miss piggy at her most brutal.....:D

Here's a silimarlity and a difference:

Both are really cool, really tough knives.

The Busse is not available yet and the SW can be purchased now!:( :grumpy:
