Here's a pic of my Sheath that I wet molded. Here's how I did it. Wet the sheath with really hot water, wrap the knife with plastic wrap insert the knife into the sheath and proceed to mold around the knife with your fingers using a hairdryer to semi dry the leather while molding. When it looks ok to you remove the knife and let the sheath dry throughly "overnight" don't forget to oil the knife when you remove the plastic wrap.

Here's a quick question, not particuarly pertaining to the AD sheath though. After "wet molding" would you still be able to periodically use leather conditioners which tend to soften and take away the firmness of the leather over time?

I'm not sure. Maybe one of the leather guys can sound off on this question.

Jerry Make some more of those things & ship me some, so I can show off the idea I have for this!!!! Or Bravado send me one of the 20 or so you bought so I can make one :grumpy: I promise to send it right back ;)

Okay! I'll send you the knife if you return it with
one of your sheaths. (Gratis)
Buy Brown I Do! :)

My first adventure into leather craft appears to be a success!!! My nicely molded sheath is drying in front of a fan and should be ready tomorrow :)

Now I just have to wait for someone to send Brown a knife so I can get a Kydex sheath :)

Brent...

Advice from many top holster makers is to use mink oil to treat your leather. It maintains the stiffness and protects it from wear and weather.

For those who cut their sheaths up with these laser sharp blades . . . please return them and they will be replaced.

Or, keep it and rest at night knowing that you'll never have to worry about the sheath holding water and ruining your knife !!! ;)

Thanks,

Jerry

This works great :D .

I restitched mine, put it under the tap w/hot water, put the AD back in (I didn't use any plastic wrap, but I made sure I dried the knife). I then pinched the hell out of it giving it a tight fit.

The contour now stops the blade from making any contact with the stitching, it also stops the knife from being pushed in too far.

One draw back is, now you have to make sure you sheath it straight in. Otherwise it just bites into the leather (There's no sliding this one back in ;) .).
